El Eden is in Patillas, Puerto Rico
El Eden Eco Resort is in the process of
developing self sufficient country habitats and other structures
hidden in a luxuriant forest retreat in the mountains of the
quaint town of Patillas, located in the south coastal region of
Puerto Rico. We use hand construction of wood, cement and other
materials using ancestral techniques. We try to minimally
intervene with nature, avoiding soil erosion and respecting our
dear land. The comfortable habitats in general measure at least
250 square feet with an attractive terrace. All are located in
the forest almost hidden from the human eye. We have majestic
views of the Caribbean Sea, the mountains and several forests in
the municipalities of Cayey, Arroyo, Guayama, Patillas, Maunabo
and Caguas. The trade winds that pass through our forests which
refresh and purify same are constant. The resort has good
pluvial precipitation and is over 1000 feet over sea level so
that a wide variety of ferns, flowers, plants and fruit bearing
trees abound, such as avocado, guava, mango, orange and plantain
among others. Come and see how we are developing this paradise!
The habitats, all made by hand, have
screens, energy by the sun, are self sufficient in water; have a
terrace with panoramic view, hammock, natural kitchen,
embellishments by our local artisans and other amenities.
Most habitats have at least one (1) room for sleeping quarters
with comfortable beds and ceiling fans. We provide drinking
water, all linen, cooking and eating utensils, including a
propane stove and refrigerator. Each has a bathroom with cold
water and water heated by solar energy. Most are illuminated by
kerosene lamps adapted to solar energy without any
contamination.
The beach, the Caribbean Sea, the
beautiful Patillas Lake, the big forests of Carite and Guavate,
the blue pond, the Patillas River and other amenities are just a
few minutes away.
The resort now has an above ground pool,
meeting and activities place, pedal boat, kayaks, bicycles,
rustic court and all terrain vehicles for transportation and
traveling around the resort. We will soon have a spa, library,
study room, gymnasium, restaurant, artisans store, market and an
observation tower on the top of the highest mountain of the
resort over 1500 feet above sea level.
We have devoted a space where you can
help us develop this non-profit project leaving things you are
no longer interested in or any donation you may wish to make
such as books and other effects. Our visitors can also help
themselves and help us in other ways.
Our emphasis is to have an environment of
cooperation and respect among us, our visitors, the plants and
the wild life. We foment cleanliness, the recycling and good
disposition of solid and liquid waste. We strive to preserve an
unpolluted environment, free of toxic smoke and other
contaminants that permit us to operate at a reasonable cost in
harmony with extraordinary natural atmosphere, habitat to
several endemic species.
At El Eden Eco Resort we emphasize the
conservation of our flora and the creatures that have been in
this ecosystem before the arrival of Adam and Eve to the Garden
of Eden: that is, before we human beings occupied this beautiful
world.
